Zoning Hearing Board Vacancies


The Borough Council is seeking residents interested in being appointed to fill vacancies on the Zoning Hearing Board. 
The judiciary board reviews and renders decision on issues regarding the zoning ordinance.  The Board meets only
when a request for a hearing is received. 
A basic knowledge of the zoning ordinance is required.  Please submit a letter of interest and resume or contact the
Borough office for more information.

General Information:


Polling Place  for Atglen Borough is the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main Street.  Voter Registration forms are available in the Borough office.  

 

Borough Taxes: 

Atglen Borough Real Estate Taxes - The 2008 tax rate is 4.10 mills.  Payments may be made in person at the Atglen or Christiana Branches of the Bank of Lancaster County or mailed to Bank of Lancaster County, P O Box 460, Atglen, PA  19310 - remittance by mail is as of the date received, not the postmark.  
 2008 Atglen Borough tax bills were issued by April 1, 2008.    2% discount up to May 31, 2008,   June 1 to July 31 - face amount due, after July 31st the penalty amount is due.  Last payment date is December 31, 2008.

Delinquent 2007 Atglen Borough Real Estate Taxes have been liened against the property, subject to interest at 9% per annum from the lien date of January 14, 2008.

Other Tax information:

Atglen Borough PerCapita Taxes - Issued by and payable to Berkheimer Tax Administrators (toll free - 1.866.227.4716). Taxes are issued on April 1st.  The discounted amount may be paid until May 31st. -from June 1st through July 31st the face amount is due, after July 31st, the penalty amount is due. 

Atglen Borough 1% Wage Tax:  issued through Lancaster County Tax Collection Bureau (1.717.569.4521)

Octorara School Tax
- Based on Millage - contact the Octorara School Tax Office at 610.593.8212 for the current rate and payment instructions.  School taxes are issued in July. 

Chester County Tax:  Issued the first week of February

Utility Billings: for more information regarding billing amounts and schedules click here:

       Sewer/Trash:  A Sewer/Trash bill was issued on June 1, for the period of June 1, 2008 through
                           August 31, 2008 and was due by June 30, 2008. This bill is now in the penalty phase and must be paid by
                          July 31, 2008 in order to avoid discontinuation of service. The new quarterly rate that began on
                           January 1, 2008 is $105 for sewer and $52 for trash per quarter.

        Water:            A  water bill was issued on July 1, 2008 for usage during the period of April 1st
                             through June 30, 2008.  This bill will be due by July 31, 2008.  The new rates are $45 for usage up
                             to 6000 gallons and $5.05 for each 1,000 gallons over the 6,000 gallon minimum.


Bulk Trash:
      One large bulk item per week is permitted.   Bulk item has a weight limit of 60 pounds and 4 feet in length, small items ie: wood or twigs may be bundled, bundles may not exceed the previously stated limitations. No cement, tires, paint, batteries or appliances with freon can be put out for collection. 

          

         Reminder: No Burning Is Permitted In The Borough
