Right to Know Law
The Right to Know Law ("RTKL") has
been significantly amended with changes that affect the
policies and procedures of municipal governments and
authorities with respect to records request. On January
1, 2009, this law expanded public access to records of state
and local agencies. The RTKL created the Pennsylvania
Office of Open Records to enforce the RTKL and to serve as a
resource for the public in obtaining public records of the
government.
